Help Design a Nature Exploration Area at North Oaks Neighborhood Park!
Come join us! We're building a new nature exploration area for the kids of North Oaks Neighborhood Park!
In October, volunteers from Austin Parks and Recreation and partners from Pacific Life Foundation and KABOOM!, will enhance the park, community garden, and build new nature exploration areas for kids and families in North Oaks Neighborhood Park! The project will be kicked off at our Design Jam, where a KABOOM! Project Manager will lead an interactive meeting for adults and kids to share their ideas!
Design Day Agenda
The Kid’s Portion – Saturday, August 1st
The purpose of the children’s meeting is to get input from the “play experts” (the kids, of course!) about what they would like to see in their new nature exploration areas and larger park. Youth involvement and participation are important parts of the KABOOM! community-build model and Design Day is an essential first step in including and thinking about the interests of the children at every stage of this project.
The Adults’ Workshop – Saturday, August 1st
Purpose of the Adults’ Meeting: Kick off the KABOOM! planning process by introducing the community build model and identifying volunteers who can take on leadership roles. This leadership team will develop ideas and action steps to ensure a successful project. We’re looking for individuals who can commit to weekly one-hour planning calls over the next several weeks and lead in the following areas:
